I have surgery one week from today. I have a busy week as a result.
Today I go to Hoag hospital for a pre-op EKG, chest X-Ray and blood work. Wednesday I have an appointment with a plastic surgeon/breast reconstruction surgeon (for a second opinion about a few concerns I have about my upcoming surgery), then an appointment with my primary care physician, and then an echocardiogram back at Hoag Hospital. So, the next couple of days are busy with medical stuff.
Wednesday night I am having dinner with two friends – one of whom I have yet to meet. We spoke over the phone last year (a friend of mine put us in contact so I could talk to her because she had just gone through breast cancer and reconstruction when I was diagnosed). She came to the hospital when I had my surgery last August and brought clothes for me to wear after surgery (you can’t wear shirts that you have to pull over your head, only button down shirts and preferably oversize shirts). I didn’t meet her when she came to the hospital to see me because I was too sick. So, Wednesday I get to thank her in person.
I woke up pretty tired this morning. I still haven’t been sleeping much – on average I get to sleep between 3:00 am and 4:00 am. I never seem to sleep in past 7:00 am. So, I am not getting much rest. I can really feel it this morning.
Hopefully tonight I will get to sleep earlier and get some good rest.
Oh, and yet another young women with a cancer diagnosis – a friend of mine’s girlfriend was just diagnosed with cancer. She has to go through chemotherapy and radiation. So sad. I don’t think she is even forty yet. It is like there is an epidemic of young women getting cancer around here. I will be saying prayers for her.

I drove past Super Mex on my way home from Hoag today – I so wanted to stop in for a bite to eat and wished we could go there together. I went home instead and had some of the soup I made the other day. Still, I would love to meet up if you have time in the next week. Would Friday lunch work for you? Or over the weekend? Let me know.
